In the confusing time when the Second World War started, the young sculptor escaped to Stockholm and lived there in the exile. He worked for different design companies in Stockholm and designed golden and silver jewellery. After the end of the war in 1945, Henning Koppel went back to his Danish home town.

In that time he also started his cooperation with the silver smith and industrial designer Georg Jensen. The cooperation should last until his death in 1981. The designer Henning Koppel became internationally famous by his cutlery designs. Besides his work for Georg Jensen, he also worked for numerous other design companies of many different areas.
