Gemstones are cut as both briolette and/or cabochon. Briolette is the term used to describe an elongated pear-shaped gemstone cut with facets. Cabochon is a gemstone which has been shaped and polished as opposed to faceted. As each stone is individual there maybe slight variations in shape and in case of ornamental gemstones variations in pattern.
